Enviromental Issues

Image
The Deep By the end of this evening Operation Deep should be half-way through. You could say my Unofficial Copies are illegal, and I wouldn't agree; but, my point is I have no idea if these cartoon will be going on sale. Despite being good cartoons, each episode tells children about the enviromental issues we are causing; from dropping rubbish in the sea to illegal dumping of oil and other chemicals.

Indian History

How I got the idea for Project India The idea for my ebook based on the story came from several sources. The latest news is the story is now over 20 pages long, with the possibility of going on, I doubt it will reach novel length (40,000 words). History has been a subject of interest to me for many years. Part of the idea for my story came from seeing the film Thar on Netflix . After seeing the film I wanted to know more about the fort in the film, and its history . I am more interested in its history before the days of the British Empire , for this purpose I bought a book on the forts of India . The idea for the story came from a discussion I had on LinkedIn with some people in India. Few writers have written about North India as it is mainly desert, and populated with tribes of wandering bandits to this day. My idea was for a short story for the blog , but my friend and editor , Julia Petrakis , asked if I was going to turn it into a book she could edit? I have no idea how far I ca...

Indian movie ratings

Musicals are not for me. At first glance, you would wonder why some films/tv series from India get low ratings on  IMDb .  You have to consider that India is a poor country, and most of the viewers on Netflix and other channels like to forget their everyday life by watching extravagant musical numbers; musicals, except for  The Little Shop of Horrors,  are not for me. Some of the shows I started to watch have large lyrical content, which is a turn-off for me .

Indian tv series

A fascinating history People's image, me included until last month, of Bollywood and the film industry in India is one of either movies of the Raj era of British rule, of massive musicals with a cast of hundreds of dancers. This is still the case, but there are a lot of other great things to see such as the thriller at the top of this post. The Fame Game is a tense sociological drama about the private life of a famed actress, and the impact her fame has on her family. Ghoul is a mini-series about an old spirit which takes over the person it debours, with a sub-plot of how a person's beliefs can be wrong in believing that the government is right for opposing change.

Bollywood I will be the first to admit that I avoided films from India called Bollywood as I thought they lacked quality, but this year thanks to Netflix I changed my opinion as there are several engrossing series on the site.  The only thing I do have against Bollywood is that many of the films are far too long at an average length of 2 1/2 hours; Alfred Hitchock never made a movie longer than 1 1/2 hours as he said that is how long the bladder can last before it needs to be emptied.

Hindi tv series I won't deny the image of Indian actress Raveena Tandom (above) attracted me to this series from India ; but this alone would not have been enough. The series is about a series of murders that happened years ago, which remained unsolved. The legend of a cross between a leopard and a man that threads through the series is intriguing. The story of Aranyak is a highlight of writing crime fiction , and well worth warching on Nerflix . Over the last month, I have become a fan of Bollywood tv series, and some movies; though a lot of the movies are over long. some are over 3 hours, in in my mind because there is a lot of music and little action, but others are well worth the watch such as the recently released Thar featuring Anil Kapoor .

Operation Download

Unauthorized Copies If you read my blog , you come to the inevitable conclusion I enjoy watching foreign films a lot more than watching UK TV. This concept brings with it a multitude of problems; mainly there are few DVDs available with subtitles - especially from Mexico and Scandinavia - Netflix  is great for watching, but if I wish to buy some of the films from India I like I need to download them as I have found it almost impossible to buy them.  I wish sellers on eBay would specify in the ad for the film if it has subtitles, it only takes a few seconds to add to the advert, and saves the buyer asking the same question several times. Another reason for me downloading instead of buying the DVDs I wish for is some people charge way too much, in my opinion, for their products. The perfect examples are the Hinge and Bracket  sets I would love to buy. The early sets are good value, but the later sets are way over-priced to be considered. Season 3 is £35 for the set (1...
