Here I am at the edge

  Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them This quote from William Shakespeare is as apt today, as it was when he wrote it. To some people, I am an award winning writer , to others, I am the best-selling author of a science fiction series. I see myself as no more than a hack writer who relentlessly hacks away at his keyboard in hope of recognition; like the Johnny Depp character in the movie adaptation of the book by Hunter S. Thompson - The Rum Diary - the story is about the authors days in Puerto Rico .  No matter what field, or what era, there are people who will rise to the top, whether by design, or fate. For myself, I never wished for fame; I am like the character I created in my first short story (no longer available to read) who wished to have his work recognised, yet remain unknown. That is one of the reasons I used to use a penname .
