Here I am at the edge

 Rani Mukerji This photograph of a ceremony to celebrate Bollywood is typical of the cinema in India today. The lady in the centre is the beautiful, and talented, Rani Mucherji , yet she is not mentioned in the post on IMDb . To show the sexism prevalent in Bollywood, actor John Abraham is mentioned, yet he is no more than a two-bit ham hero actor. Sadly the situation won't change as the male domination of the cinema will continue because it is run by, and for, th e Kapoor family. The rest of the industry is centred on the the Three Khans who view the ladies as eye-candy, and regard them as inferior, despite the opposite being the case with several actresses.

An ongoing dilemma  I keep finding myself asking the same question. Is this film worth watching for one actress I like in it? Usually, the actress involved is either Rani Mukerji (above), or Vidya Balan , both ladies, in my opinion are excellent, and underrated actresses; unfortunately, they will not got the opportunity to shine as Bollywood is geared to promoting Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan , to the detriment of other actors, and actresses.

  A modern Indian Princess I admit to buying several films purely because  Rani Mukerji is in them. Ms Mukerji is a greatly under-estimated actress as she usually films with Shah Rukh Khan who is the top man in Bollywood . If I had to chose a lady to play a Princess from India , my choice would be Ms. Mukerji, she exudes charm and elegance as well as beauty.

  Moving in circles  I will tell no lies, the reason I started to watch the film  Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna was because the lovely Rani Mukerji is in it. I have several of her films in my Bollywood section, yet I have seen few. I didn't think I would like this because Shah Rukh Khan is in the film; as a rule, I tend to avoid his films, but that can change. Again, one of the lesser known cast shines as his mother, Kirhon Kher has played his mother in several films. Rani comes from a highly-regarded Bengali film family, even though she was born in Mumbai (Bombay). A few posts ago, I questioned the marriage of Saif Ali Khan to  Kareena Kapoor  as being more for control of the cinema in the north of India, than for love. My wife pointed out that being at the top, you have a limited range of possibilities.
