The villagers of Kaldor have kept a watch on Betaal's mountains for longer than anybody can recall. They stand vigil outside the cave but never go further than the entrance to offer their gifts, for fear of Betaal's rage. There is a rumor of a book in the back of the caves that can make a person immortal. During the Indian Rebellion of 1856, the East India Company set up a post to guard their investment in India against the rebels.
