Donating to SSAFA via Give as you Live . It is my wife's birthday next week, so I sent off for a book that she loved but had to throw out as it got eaten by woodworms several years ago.

DPD Local

Image
They are NOT the fastest. DPD makes the claim to be the quickest delivery service, if that is so may the Lord help us.  Twice in the last two months they have said they delivered a package that could not be collected, and asked me to pay for a new delivery. Though the scam only cost me £2.00, if you add up all the other customers that use them, it makes a good way to get money quickly, who will complain about losing £2.00?

Italy

I need to brush up on my Italian geography. You would think with all the Italian TV series I watch my Italian geographic knowledge would at least be on the good side of moderate but it is not. Of course, I know the location of the main cities such as Rome , Turin ,   and Milan , and as I used to chat with a lady from Bari I know that is.  But I found out recently that there are some cities that I had completely lost track of such as Naples . I was watching Gomorrah and I had the impression that Napoli is high on the right-hand side it is situated low on the left-hand side of the country. Where I thought Naples was there are no major cities close by. The closest is San Marino .

Foreign films. I often read that English subtitles are not added to films from Europe, I have found several sites that can provide subtitles. I admit, I can only download the titles to my laptop and they are not added to the films, but it does go some way to helping.

Too expensive

Quality from Iceland but too much to pay. These shows from Iceland show there is a lot of talented actors/actresses on the island. I would have bought them off eBay  to help the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund via the Give as you Live site, but at £25 per 4 part serial the price is way too high - I did make an offer to buy them if the seller lowered their price, but they did not want to know.

Unsung heroes

Real heroes Until this month, I had always supported the RNLI, what has made me change my views about the charity ? This month, the have sacked over 100 people to buy Burkinis for some Muslim children in a country that hates the UK . I am pleased I never chose them for my charity to donate to via the Give as you Live app. This is the story of real heroes, who only made local news headline for a week. The story is fiction, but the events are part of my family history. This story is fictional, but the events portrayed are part of my family’s history. In the early 1970s, my late Uncle John was involved in an accident at Whitby harbor, similar to the one Johan had. The result was he lost his job as a stevedore on Whitby docks, a position he held since World War 2. Later in the 1970s, my Uncle Len was involved in the rescue of a Polish ship at the mouth of the River Tees, North Yorkshire. My uncle was the man who boarded the boat and got the men to safety. The event is lo...
