Why try to sell?

Freebies are my death knell Yes, I did fail as a writer. You may question this statement, but the facts will defeat you at each turn. A) I wrote an award-winning collection of short stories wihch has not sold in over a decade. B) The more I check my "sales," the more I notice that most of these sales are not sales, but FREEBIES , for which I get nothing. C) I kept writing for a decade after my best-selling science fiction series stopped selling. In the hope sales would come from readers of the series, while knowing nothing would happen. The trouble with Free ebooks is once a person knows where to get them, the writer is dead, literally, as the person is NOT going to buy the product when they can get it for free, and you ask why I stopped writing.

You are killing me

Too many freebies. Yet again, my only "sale" this week is a FREE copy of my short story Escalaphobia . The story is an account of my fear of escalators. With the Freebies "selling," it makes me wonder why do I hope for a "real sale," as no freebie has brought a genuine sale.

I'm not getting a dime

Times change I usually try to maintain some standard of writing, but that has changed this year. Why should I maintain a standard when nobody buys my #ebook s?  If my standard falls, remember this, you are reading the blog for free.  Here are some links to my ebooks    https://www.barnesandnoble.com/s/%22Alan%20Place%22?Ntk=P_key_Contributor_List&Ns=P_Sales_Rank&Ntx=mode+matchall  /  https://www.kobo.com/gb/en/search?query=Alan+Place / https://www.amazon.co.uk/Alan-Place/e/B007U50BOI%3Fref=dbs_a_mng_rwt_scns_share /  https://www.scribd.com/author/427063671/Alan-Place .

FREEBIES

What is the point of writing? Over the last week or two, I had got back into the habit of writing after a long time off, and I was enjoying it again.   Then, reality hit in, all people care about is getting something for FREE, even I have to virtually give my e-books away to earn a few cents per sale.
