There are no doubts Few people would argue that Dartmoor Prison isn't the toughest prison in the UK, it houses the worst criminals in the UK . In its life, there has only been one successful escape, that was back in the 1960's and was orchestrated by the Kray twins . Towards the end of his life, Reggie Kray admitted it was the biggest mistake of his life freeing Frank Mitchell. Mtchell was an axe-man, but he was also volatile, and had a short fuse which cold ignite at will. Why have there been so few escapes? We've all seen one version of the Hound of the Baskervilles , it is the most recorded Sherlock Holmes story. Though the mire mentioned may not exist, the countryside in the area is a treacherous as in the film, one step off the tracks and you could disappear.
