A fool I am Why would I say this? Only a fool would choose the life of a writer . Only an idiot would taje on the life, with no money or education , and hope to get ahead, yet, I did for 15 long years. The hardest part for me to swallow isn't the failure, but that I kept hoping for a turn in the waves of fortune, when I knew it wouldn't happen. Awards mean little, unless it is a major award sucg as the Booker Prize , or New York Times Bestseller .
