A ghost story from my past

Image
True sightings The lost years Mark and James had been friends since school, they had been through all the usual teen angst of girlfriends and losing them and had always been best mates. They had a trust borne out of years of not telling lies, so when Mark told James he had seen a ghostly form, there was no reason for Mark not to believe him, yet a ghost, could this be true? “I tell you I DID see it Mark!”James said. “Clear as I see you sitting on the bed now.” “Okay, let us go through what you saw and try to find the reasons for it. I'm not saying I don't believe you. “But you are not saying you do either are you.” “Let’s just say I have an open mind on the subject, as we have no proof either way yet.” “If I do prove it, then will you believe it?” “Of course I will, once we get proof one way or the other. What did you see?” “I was coming back along the old footpath by Mr. Darlow’s farm, when I thought I saw a man ahead, he looked as...

Two ghost romances

Image
Two linked romances. My two ghost stories  Amelia   and  The Lost Years  could be read as two parts of the same romance, or as two separate short story romances .  Amelia is based on the life of a nurse who died trying to rescue a child during the Bristol blitz during World War 2 .  The Lost Years is based on the many ghost sightings that occurred in Leicestershire , and still happen, since the end of World War 2.  At one time, I did consider rewriting Amelia as a modern ghost story. The building that was the hospital in the story has been a hotel for more than three decades, it would have made an exciting project to bring the ghost into this era.  One point of historical interest, the nurse who Amelia is based on, died when the ground floor collapsed and trapped her in the basement, her body has never been recovered.

In Scotland

Spirits of the past   I spent half of the day looking in the wrong area for an  RAF ghost , today.  The confusion came from knowing the station in mind started with "M."  My initial search was for     en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_Machrihanish ,  this station is on the East coast, near  Glasgow . I found out my search should have been for  RAF Montrose , near  Dundee   rafmontrose.org.uk/ . The  Montrose ghost  is the ghost of the first aviator to die during #WW1   en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desmond_Arthur .  Although my ghost stories are of  #WW2 , I wrote two ghost stories about the air war in Europe.  The Lost Years   www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00EXRTC3W   is about the ghost of a pilot trapped in his plane; the spirit can't be freed because the body is yet to be recovered. Amelia  www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01A93CQ1S   is the story of a nurse who left her home after her boyfriend died in a plan...
