The Nagin saga

You should leave a great film alone In Hindu culture there is the worship a snake god called Nagin . This has spawned several Bollywood movies, of varying quality, not all are determined by the time they were produced, one of the best I saw is the orignal made in 1951, one of the worst is the 1986 version with Rishi Kapoor ; I wanted to enjoy the film s it features one of my favourite actresses from India , Rekha , but the movie is ruined by terrible special effects. In 2017 a new series came out, I was dubious of the quality, how can you turn a good film of 1 1/2 hours into a six season series, and keep the story? At the time, I had no idea how long, or how many episodes there were in the series, that information I gathered today. There are 475 episodes, each is an hour long.

Another story in the Nagin saga :( :(

Overkill I thought I had tracked the Nagin story to its end, I was wrong. This one delightful story of a serpent turning into an alluring woman, so she can take her revenge on the killers of her lover - another snake god - had by the late 70s run its course. Today, I came across a film called Neera which is another in the series. I may watch the film, so I can judge the series; but t s unlikely as the series appears to be never-ending with the latest versions    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/404670655253 ,and  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/404682378813 for sale on my eBay page https://www.ebay.co.uk/sh/lst/active .

Another SCAM thwarted

No money- no goods Last nght, I had a "buyer" for this film on eBay . I put the word buyer in hash-marks because I have my suspicions they are a scam . At the end of last month, before I changed my posting plan, they "claimed" another DVD I sent hadn't arrived, and asked for a refund ; this time, I'm waiting for the money to get to me before I send the film . I usually like A kshay Kumar   films, but this is another in the endless flood of fims turned out to do wth the Nagin story.

I shall be brutal

Two of my fave actress are not in the top  In my research into the Nagin series, I am going to be homest in my views; my opinion, or likes has no influence on my reports. So far, two of the films I wanted to see have fallen flat for me.  The one with  Vyjayanthimala  in  because the film is more about the warring factions than the serpent she became, and the other with  Rekha in because  despite being made in the late 80's the CGI is worse than  puerile despite the growth of technology available.

The series has to be RUBBISH !!!!!!

A waste of time If you follow this blog, you may recall I am trying to run an objective survey on the film from India , Nagin Many people consider Sridevi (above) as the best Nagin. I can't pass a judgement as I haven't seen her versions; I can say she will have a top three spot, not hard when you make two films out of the eight, and were classed as the Queen of Bollywood for a long time. For a while, I was wondering how many episodes the new series has? Today, I found out, how can you make 490 episodes from a 90 min film, and expect quality? The dress designers loved the series I bet, think of all the dresses they had to design. My favorite for the role is Reena Roy , not only because she was last NOT be measured against Sridevi, her Nagin came two years earlier, but I think she is not only more attractive, but also a better actress.

A strong contender for the bottom three The film Sheshnaag is a favourite for a place in the bottom three of my quest in the world of Nagin - the snake godess of India . From the start, I have been objective, my favourite so far is the 1976 film with Reena Roy - readers will recall miss Roy is a fave actress of mine, but I am being impartial in my quest - I am also taking in account the age of the film, and the technology available at the time.  Most people would vote for the original film with Sridevi in their top three, but I am looking forward to the original 1954 film featuring the actress Vjayanthimala ; I saw her in the film Madhumati with Dilip Kumar . All in all, one of the reason I bought this film is it has Rekha , another fave of mine in.
