  Labour  are fighting a rear-guard action in Bristol Since the end of World War 2, Bristol South has been a Labour party stronghold, all that may change at the next election. Like most Labour seats they are holding onto what was won after the general strike in 1929. This week, Kier Starmer came to Bristol ; when he visited a pub, the landlord told him in impolite terms to F### O##. The MP for this area (Bristol South), Karin Smyth could be known as the lady who lost the safest seat in the UK at the next election, her lead was cut from 0ver 30% to less than 20% at the last election. The latest news (as of two hours ago) is that Labour are all but dead after losing more than 200 seats, mostly to the Conservative Party in the recent elections. It does ask the question, how many will now decide to remain with a part that not only has no support, but goes against its principles of acting for the working class people in the UK?   Getting hacked off Twice in the last 12 months I have had my bank account hacked by people in the Philippines. This raises the question about what happens? Do they get the IT training, then find there is no work; or do they get the IT training to hack? A few years ago I had to laugh when the bank contacted about a suspicious sale using my card. It was from a man in Wigan , Greater Manchester who tried to use my account to buy some disco equipment. The funny part is I have not been to Wigan, the last time I passed through the area was back in 1988 when I got de-mobbed from the Royal Air Force .  Even in my teens I never liked going to discos, the bright flashing lights and loud noises gave me severe headaches. Prior to that, a person in Budapest , Hungary tried buying a meal with my details. I have never been anywhere near the area; the closest I have been would be when I went to Switzerland the year before I got married (36 years ago).

  A growing interest in South America Yesterday's second largest group of readers for this blog came from Peru . To some people this may come as a surprise, but not to me, the reason is I have blogged a lot about Spain , and Spanish speaking countries in the last two months, this includes most of South America .

  Belgium passes the UK I don't blog about Belgium a lot, but I do watch several series from there. Tabula Rasa is an engrossing psychological drama. 13 Commandments is about a police officer taking the law in his hands to punish criminals who escaped going to prison by killing them using the Ten Commandments, then adding his own three. Beyond the Walls is about a lady who inherits a house with a series of weird rooms. Code 37 is a series about punishing sex criminals.

  Auto-translate on YouTube is excellent Thanks to auto-translate on YouTube I can watch one of my favorite detectives in France . He may be abrasive, and have little regard for politeness when talking to the suspects, but the series works for me. The man playing Cain, Bruno Debrandt , is also in another o my fave series from France; the engrossing Engrenages ; the English title Spiral , refers to wheels within wheels like the workings of a clock mechanism.

  Blanca Portillo With the use of auto-translate on YouTube I am able to finally watch a series I have been trying to watch for two years featuring Blanca Portillo ; one of my favorite actresses from Spain . Ideally, I would like to add these to my collection of TV series from Spain, but as yet, I cannot find English subtitles to download so I will download the episodes to disc using my video converter.
