Yorkshire ghosts
I tire of York
I am from Yorkshire, and proud of coming the county; yet, I tire of hearing about the ghosts associated with the county city of York. I doubt you thought you would read that.
One of the issues with the ghosts of York, is the same as the ghost of Jane Austen, most people know the history, or a part of it, of York.
Knowing it is a Roman city, you would, and do see Roman soldiers, or do you?
Do you see Roman soldier's ghosts, are are they there because you expect them to be there?
My wife, and I, were watching a video on YouTube, the guide claimed to be telling the story of one of the aerliest ghost stories, yet the date of the story is only 1953; at this point, any interest I had - which was minimal - departed.
I am sure ports like Scarborough, and Whitby have many tales to tell, but everyone goes to York. What about Saltburn-on-the sea? No, not the film, I am sure there are many tales to be told of the halls which were frequented by Edward Vii, and Lillie Langtry.
I know of one mystery in Scarborough, probably connected to a sad death. Why is a rock shelf on the North Shore named after a young lady, and not a non-familiar designation such as The Skerries?
