What is a ghost ship?

 Not the modern term

To answer the question, we have to define what is a ghost ship.

My definition is not like the modern terminology for a ghost ship; the modern term is related ta a ship found with no crew, to me, that is NOT a ghost ship.

My definition lies in the term "ghost" which implies an apparition, like The Flying Dutchman, or the vessel seen off the coast of Norway.

The modern ghost ships are more akin to the the Marie Celeste, a ship that has been abandoned. In the cases around the China Seas, the cause of the crews leaving can usually be attributed to pirate action in the area.
