The worst prison

 A false impression

If you watch tv, you would imagine from the series fone with Eoss Kemp, the worst prsons are in the UK, and the USA. This is NOT true.

He only goes there because they are accessible, there are far worse prisons in Asia than are in the UK, and the USA.

In another post I wrote about the Andaman Islands, a prison complex set up by the British of the coast of Borneo where conditions in the Circular Jail were so bad they became known as Kala Pana - Black Water - this prison was used to house political prisonsers during the rse for independence in India. The staff were their own bosses as it is so far from land.

Another infamous prison is Changi in Singapore, built to house 1,500 prisoners, during WW2 it held over 25,000 prisoners. The name Changi is synomous with brutality of the forces of Japan during the conflict.
