Sunil Dutt
The meeting of Nargis, and her future husband, Sunil Dutt was a re-enactment of the final scenes of the Raj Kapoor film Aah, about an actor who gets burned in a fire.
In the film, Raj's character learns from a friend that his lady love, Nargis, is in love with an artist; he rushes to his room and rips all his painting of her up, too find out, he is the one she loves. As he walks to view her perform, he picks up a burning torch to get a better view; he is so enthralled by her, he doesn't notice the set is on fire, and he's trapped. He does escape, and they live together, though his injuries are severe.
During the making of the classic film, Mother India, Nargis was caught in a stage fire, her rescuer was Sunil; he spent weeks in hospital as his hands were burned. The saddest part of this story is she died days before their son, Sanjay Dutt, made his debut in the film Rocky. At the premiere, a seat was left vacant in the front row, to honour the death of Nargis.
