The Case of the Rooftop Killer
It's so frustrating
My wife and I recently watched a documentary on murders, it is "our thing" now.
One case I recall has me totally perplexed; I can recall the events, but as far as I can find out there is no record of the murder. It would help if I could recall either the name of the victim, or the killer.
The event took place, probably in New York, at a rooftop party hosted by a crime boss (I think). The victim was sitting at a table with several guests, when a man got out of the elevator, walked to the table, and fired three shots at short range into the victim's chest.
He then walked to the elevator, went down and disappeared.
I say New York because the party was on the rooftop of a tall building, and the guests were wealthy; in the 1930s, the USA was still reeling from the Great Depression and the Wall Street Crash, but these people had lots of money.
I am not certain, but I think the victim was a man known for "playing the field," and the killer was the boyfriend/ husband of one of his conquests.
I was going to reference the shooting in a new Noir thriller I am considering writing.
