The Problem with Success

 Project Nagin

This week, I will begin Project Nagin which will be an impartial review of the series of films about the shape-changing diety from India, Nagin.
The only part of the series I am missing is the 2017 series featuring Shraddha Kapoor, I watched part of the opening episode, yes an episode, not a film, and was appalled - not that I expected anything good - you cannot take a great film, then turn it into a series of six seasons and hope to retain its charm.
So far, I have seen three of the eight films, and two of those will be rooted in the bottom three of the list - the other is the 2017 series - I can be impartial about the performance of Sridevi in the role, as I have not seen any of her other films.
I found the missing film, which isn't the oldest as you would have expected on a US site called DVD Lady   https://hereiamattheedge.blogspot.com/2023/04/thank-you-dvd-lady.html.
A couple of years after playing the part of Nagin, Sridevi was asked to replay the role in another film, the second film was less successful than her previous role, most people saw it as the producer trying to boost his rep by using her name.
The problem with being a success is you raise the bar for what people expect next, and it can be daunting.
