An old idiom used to welcome the first call of the summer was the call of the Cuckoo; however, studies have shown the bird has an evil intent.

If you hear a cuckoo, remember this, for the cuckoo to be heard it has killed two or more of the chicks in the nest where the egg was laid. Nevermore has an apt adage described an object, the term "A cuckoo in the nest" is used to describe someone or something which is out of place, and undesirable - nothing suits the phrase more than a cuckoo.
