Was it murder?
Or was it suicide?
The demise of Sridevi five years ago has been the subject of many theories, mostly about her possible murder, as The Queen of Bollywood was 54 when she died, and apparently in good health.
At the time of her death in Dubai, she was expecting her husband to join her for their daughter's marriage ceremony the following day. The "Official" verdict is death by misadventure, as she was reported to have taken a drink before a bath, and fainted in the tub.
It is now things don't add up. At the time of her death, she had taken out a life insurance policy that paid $35 million if she died in Dubai. I have never heard of such a policy that only pays up if you die in a particular city; the policy would be a waste of money, what would be the odds of being in a city when you died?
Unless you planned it. In the following years, suggestions were asked about this policy, and neither family nor friends denied its existence.
Rumors she was murdered began when it was known her husband, Boney Kapoor, was producing films that were bombing, and he was deep in debt; even though he had talked heartthrob Salman Khan into acting in his films. His wife's death would clear Mr. Kapoor's debts. There is another "bone of contention" between Messers Kapoor, and Khan. Salman's younger brother was dating Boney's sister who was 15 years his elder, and Slaman thought this would impact his career.
There is also another item to consider, which is family honor which is a high priority in India. In this case, Mr. Kapoor has my sympathy; he is a ninth-generation member of what some would say is the royal family of Indian cinema - https://hereiamattheedge.blogspot.com/2022/08/dynasty.html - despite his heritage which goes back to the start of the cinema in India, Boney Kapoor was not a success in a family that thrived on its success, to this day that is still true.
There has not been an official cause of death certificate issued by Dubai, nor have there been any toxicity reports issued.
The question remains did The Queen take her life at the suggestion of her husband, or did she take action of her own will?
The question will remain unanswered, one thing is clear, even with his debts covered Mr. Kapoor still makes terrible films - I know as I have seen some of them.
