Joe's Resignation . Joe West was sitting in his garden admiring the bees at work when his wife called him, "Joe, it's Roger from the club. He wants to have a word with you." Joe eased his tired body out of the deckchair and ambled across the garden to the door to his kitchen; as he passed his wife, Mabel, he gave her a hug and a kiss and said, "I have an idea what this is about love." He went into the kitchen and picked the receiver off the table where Mabel had left it, "Hello, Roger, what's on your mind today?" Roger Shipman, the treasurer of Hambling Cricket Club, replied, "We'd like you to come to a specially organized meeting tonight, Joe. The members have come to a decision and want to put a motion forward." Joe smiled and replied, "You put the beers on, and tell "em" Joe'll be there." Did we see him?

A Victorian mystery story. I wrote the  short story entitled  Did we see him?   The story is based on historical facts; in the early 1930s, Sir Percy Fawcett led an expedition along the Amazon river but never returned. Some of the prevalent theories at the time are mentioned in my story. After this story, I started another steampunk story called Did we see them? As the sales for DWSH never amounted to much, I left the sequel unfinished after about 30 pages.

5 stars for Nerja

In fact, I finished reading it during my commute home on the subway. The best way to describe this story is: It is a story about faith. It involves two different men from two different cultures. One White and one Native American/Cree. Both were placed in an extremely dangerous situation and both depended on their faith to bring them out safely. This wonderfully short story answered the question: "Who do you call on and cling to in the time of trouble?" I expected more, but "Nerja" was so skillfully written additional words would've ruined it. Short and to the point, this was an excellent and highly recommended read. I may not sell many, but this is as good as a sale. Nerja   [K
