Alan Place - The Nomad
Chechnya
I put my wandering spirit down to coming from a family with connections to the sea, and fishing. Recently, a site on Facebook that researches genealogy gave me information to contradict this.
My wife jokes that as my beard has red tinges, she says I have Nordic blood; recently we were watching a YouTube documentary on Attila the Hun, and a tribe called the Alans came into the conversation.
It would be odd if that was were my nomadic urges came from, but they all but died out around 420 BC. A few of the people in Chechnya trace their roots back to these nomads.
To the older generation, Chechnya is the western section of what was Czechoslovakia.
