So many experts

 Nearly everbody claims to be an expert these days

For a short time, years ago, I was a book reviewer (freelance);  one of the books I was sent to review was by a bestselling writer. He may have been a bestseller, in his field - How to manuals - but he had no idea how to write a story.

We use a method called a "hook" to keep the reader going, it can be anything from a bit of unexpcted news to a question which nobody wants to ask, or answer.

The hook usually comes in the first chapter, this book was so BORING, after 50 pages, the most exciting thing which happened was the main character had colour-coded his pens for the day.
