What do you think of when Detroit is mentioned?
Detroit boomed because of the motor industry, but while the indusrty boomed it gave people the power to travel.
With cities such as Chicago, and Cleveland now within reach, Detroit felt the tug of its millstone. If the city had been built further north, who knows it may have thrived. Detroit is the most northern major urban settlement in Michigan, the rest of the north is mainly small farms until you cross into Canada.
