Save the Turtle
We need to preserve the Leatherback turtle population, not only for their sake; but for the sake of humanity too. Why?
These beautiful, serene, creatures are the only things that are immune to jellyfish stings, not only that, they can eat the jellyfish.
Beaches around Australia have safe swimming zones, these are areas that are patrolled and cleared of jellyfish daily, but even that isn't enough. On strong swells, many beaches are closed by lifeguards who notice what they call the Blue Tide. This occurs when a beach is swarmed by thousands of box jellyfish; the danger here is if you get stung, and these creatures have stings that trail over 20 feet, if you are unable to get medical attention within 10 minutes the sting can lead to anything from a severe rash to death, depending on the age and general health of the victim.
