Sheridan Le Fanu

 Bram Stoker

The current trend on Twitter about Queen Camilla reminded me of a book I read several years ago by the Irish writer, Sheridan Le Fanu,
The story is nothing like Camilla Parker Bowles; the short story is about a vampire.

At the end of the original Dracula, Bram Stoker gave thanks to this story as his inspiration; the story pre-dates Dracula by almost 20 years.

    1. The story involves the age of problems of vampires, that of staying young and appealing. To do so, Camilla has to attract young ladies to her home in order to drink their blood. One such young lady causes concerns for ner boyfriend when she goes missing, after tracing her movemnets, the bf finds her on the bed with Camilla standing oer her. As he looks around he notices that her name is similar to that of other ladies, but she changes the letters. The story ends different to the "usual" with no opening of windows to let sunlight in.
