Harry Potter's Hindi connection

I doubt any of the fans of the Harry Potter films realize that J K Rowling took the character from a series of Hindi films going back to the 1950s.
Nagin was a snake who could turn into a beautiful lady when she met her lover. She turned into a killer when four men killed her lover when they saw him as a snake and thought he was going to kill her.

      One could say that as JKR is having to go to HIndi deities for her stories, she has run out of udeas.
