Do you believe in zombies?

 George Romero

Though I have no proof, I would say, yes I believe in zombies.

Not the film genre created by George Romero; that is pure fiction. Zombies are living people who are put in a state of trance, the practice came to Haiti from West Africa during the era of slave trading.

The fear of the Living Dead was used by Papa Doc, and later his son to control the population and to rig elections by eliminating the opposition.

However, like most dictators in history, at some point, someone stands up to them. Though Papa Doc died in office, his son, and his family were sent into exile. Junior and his family lived their lives out in Paris, they reputedly escaped with as much money as the Marcos family held in the Philippines.

    1. I did write the short story "Zombiewatch" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GCRPH6C, this was more of a double challenge to my ability as a writer. I completed the first section - to write a "zombie" story as it appeared to be the trend, though I admit I have no interest in the genre of the "undead."
There is a book on sale by Wade Davis ( a professor) that catalogues the events of a man in Southern America who lived as a zombie for over 20 years. When the spell was broken he had no recollection of living, or the events, during that time.
People dispute the existence of zombies, yet do not dispute the life of Jesus, a man who lived 2,000 yrs ago. The culture that zomies rose from is as alive now as it was during the slave trading days.
Junior went into exile, days before the troops raided the palacial home to escort the family to trial for crimes perpetuated. Consider this, if they got away with that much money - imagine how much they must have left - they lived like royalty while the country was driven to the dogs by their greed.
To get an estimate of their wealth, PD ruled from 1957 until his death in 1971, and Baby Doc continued on until 1986.
