Is it time to throw the towel in?

There comes a time when one has to concede

I don't like to admit that my dream of being a writer is over but what will I do? This year is the beginning of the ten years it takes to be recognised (so I was told), and all I see is a blank road ahead.  Other than my Science Fiction series, nothing has sold on Barnes & Noble, and Amazon has proved to be worse than useless for my sales.
