Pat Canella won't die easy

An excerpt from the latest Pat Canella story:-

She never heard the hammer draw on the gun; gut instinct saved her as she dived for cover as the three shots rang out from the balcony to her left, none found their target. 
The guys came rushing from the squad room, “Patti, are you hurt?” Jim called out. 
“I’m fine, thanks. Check the top balcony, I’m sure the shooter is on the balcony,” she called back.
“We can’t see anybody and we don’t have the light to check the balcony,” Kal replied, “and if he's good, he'll police his cases.”
Late on the scene as usual, Dave Moore asked, “What made you suspect a shooter?”
