The year before I got married, I went on a vacation to #Lucerne http://www.luzern.com/en/index.cfm, in #Switzerland, on this trip my friend Mike and I were known as The Likely Lads - a reference to a popular comedy series - as we were never far from each other http://www.express.co.uk/life-style/life/539563/Dick-Clement-Ian-La-Frenais-The-Likely-Lads. Mike was my oldest school friend, we stayed friends from when we met in junior school until the year after I got married, and we lost touch because I moved to #Bristol.
While Mike never became the snob, Bob Ferris (Rodney Bewes) did, and I never became the slob Terry Collier (James Bolam) became. There were several likenesses in the series and our lives.
Mike like Bob stayed at home while like Terry I joined the Armed Forces. Both Terry and I served in Germany, he did his service in the Army, mine was in the Royal Air Force.
I can relate to the scenes at the end of the video, where you see the children playing in the rubble. Many years ago, I revisited my hometown of http://www.spookyisles.com/2015/07/5-haunted-places-to-visit-in-middlesborough/ and saw the devastation left by the pulling down of buildings that were not able to be replaced; vast areas of rubble covered what were streets.
I checked a few months ago on #GoogleMaps, and my old street is still standing after all these years.
